Pembroke

Case details

Who is Pembroke? Pembroke is a 4 year old male crossbreed.

Reason for treatment: Preventative care.

Number of treatments: 3

Initial findings

During Pembroke’s initial myotherapy treatments I found he had:

  • Hypotonic mm. hamstrings. Most noticeably on right side.
  • Bilateral tension in lumbar region and roaching of lumbar-sacral region with low tail carriage.
  • Lateral rotation of pelvic limbs.

Treatment

Pembroke had 3 treatments, c.7-10 days apart.

  • The easing of the compensatory tight muscle in Pembroke’s thoracic and cervical regions have helped improve posture, balance, muscle function and health in his pelvic region.
  • The sensitivity to touch his pelvic region has decreased and he allowed me to treat this area bilaterally on the third treatment.
  • Myotherapy of Pembroke’s compensatory muscle issues has helped to improve function in those areas by relieving tension, and also to activate the compromised muscles in the pelvic region.

Before

1. Weak m. semitendinosus and m. semimembranosus. Weak pelvic limbs due to hip dysplasia and having been shot in his right pelvic limb.
2. Hamstring muscles lacking tone.
3. Some roaching of lumbar-sacral region with low tail carriage.

After

1. Muscle tone of pelvic limbs improved.
2. Tail nice and high, elongated neck during treat search.
3. Less roaching in the lumbar sacral region.

Before

1. Lateral rotation of pelvic limbs.
2. Imbalanced – pelvic limb muscles appear underdeveloped bilaterally but also there is an imbalance with left pelvic limb muscles feeling weaker than right.
3. Head and tail carriage relatively low due to compensatory issues.

After

1. Less pelvic limb lateral rotation.
2. Hamstring muscle tone improved along with balance between the pelvic limbs.
3. Head and tail carriage improved.
